William Van Antwerp, Charles H. Miller, Louis Jordan, Harry Slotterbeck, P.A. Altmaier, and many others who made reels.
Here's an example of an enigmatic gunsmith who may well have made reels, but I can't find evidence to confirm that. Edmund Newton was born in Maine in 1818. He posted this ad in a Providence, R.I., directory in 1852. By 1859, he moved to Worcester, Mass., where he continued his gunsmithing business. He died in 1867.
Would anyone care to research Newton to see if there's evidence that he made reels?
