Some vintage carded flies recently acquired

Post by Mike N »

I posted a “wanted to buy” on Joe’s, the Classic Fly Rod Forum and Reel Talk, and was lucky to acquire these vintage flies (a few more are on the way.) The small early VL&A Chicago card and fly shown was in the collection of the late Steve Lumpkin, a former ORCA president. I’m very happy to have an item from Steve’s collection. He had a super eye for quality. I want to thank Dean Smith and John Elder for their continued advice, as this is a new collecting field for me.

Here are a few more I added today...vintage Hardy flies with packaging, as well as much less expensive JC Higgins trout flies (Sears stopped using that trade name in 1962 when it was replaced with the Ted Williams brand, so these are at least 60 years old).
