Scott E, beautiful trout! I might be wrong, but that looks like a Westslope Cutthroat Trout to me.
In any event, Montana is trout paradise.

My vote is for a rainbow. I can't see any "cut" under the gill plate. I could be wrong. At any rate, any trout taken from a small stream in Montana is to be cherished.
