Two persimmon head golf clubs (No. 2 and No. 3 woods), both clearly marked “Heddon” on a metal band on the shaft. Nice old-school leather wrapped grips
When I purchased these at an NFLCC show, the history I got was that Heddon was contracted by the federal government during World War II to make telescoping antennae’s. These golf shafts were a natural offshoot.
A neat collecting oddity.
Both shipped to lower 48 states....$295.00
PayPal only

Actually Heddon made the golf shafts well before WWII. The first offshoot being seamless tubular steel rods in the early 1930s. Heddon never manufactured clubs themselves but sold their shafts to folks who did.
I love to get old reels, work on them until they run as smooth as silk and the take them fishing using pre-1960 plugs, mostly surface fishing for Largemouths after dark.
“John Heddon developed the steel golf club division in 1931 moving onto steel ski poles then steel bait and fly rods. They were manufactured with John Heddon's exclusive patented process for tapering steel tubing and tempering the steel with a heat treat operation. It was because of their capability for tapering and heat-treating steel tubing that James Heddon's Sons were able to secure its first war contract. They made aerial mast's and antennas for the signal corps and other restricted radio communication equipment for military vehicles. They also made a fold up box kite which was used with emergency communications equipment for pilots that were shot down.”
Exactly my point. The golf clubs were not an "offshoot" of WWII activity ( as stated in the story you got when you purchased them) but rather the other way around.
