Shakespeare Company US Trademark

Post by Alan Baracco »

ORCANS,

I found this US Trademark issued to the Shakespeare Company in 1929. The single word "TACKLE" refers to a magazine put out by the company.

Just curious, anybody aware of such a magazine or periodical, are they common, or more importantly, are they valuable to a Shake researcher?

Alan

I’ve seen a copy of “Tackle” that Bill Sonnett has. They are full of good information but you hardly ever see them. That trademark info alone is great information!

I will need to look mine over when I get home. It has been my experiance that the earliest ones are the most valuble as far as information foe the researcher. If I am not mistaken they begin around 1907. (I will double check that tonight) Vern Sparks (deceased) gave me a large stack of them from the 1920's and I copied a few things befor returning them. I see them occasionaly at shows.
I love to get old reels, work on them until they run as smooth as silk and the take them fishing using pre-1960 plugs, mostly surface fishing for Largemouths after dark.

Thanks, Eric,

I added it to Colby & my USTRADES database, all (well nearly) fishing tackle US Trademarks, 1870 to 1963 (3,098 records in all). Available to any ORCAN for research.
