We Just Learned We Lost a Great Member - Currey Gayle
Betty was informed that Currey passed away last Friday from cancer. He was probably one of the nicest and friendliest man you would ever meet. He was proud of his family's history and was a big supporter of ORCA. We'll miss his smiling face.

So Sorry to hear this. I would like to offer condolences to the family. Yet another void that will not be easily filled.

We lost a great ORCA member and a good friend. I will miss Currey. I remember him and his dad coming to Pigeon Forge show often. He maintained the Gayle collection of reels and its history. He will be missed by all of us.

I am sad to hear this but I have several happy memories of Currey. The best one I remember was his excitement when someone walked in off the street at an ORCA Convention in Frankfort holding a Gayle reel with knurling that Currey had never seen before. He was like a kid in a candy store!

Very sorry to hear that, it a big loss for our organization and community. He was a fixture at the NFLCC meetings in 2000's and many ORCA meetings as well. He really did a lot to discover and preserve the Gayle family history. Here is a picture of him with his father Joe (Shorty) Gayle at the 2001 NFLCC National in Louisville, KY.
