We are pleased to announce a new book on Kentucky reels, depicting almost certainly the finest collection of these jewels ever seen.
This softcover book is a labor of love from a team of ORCA members: Bill Hinkebein, Todd E.A. Larson, Betty Barr, Don Kleier, Jim Schottenham, Gene Burch, and the late Curry Gayle. It brings together professional photos (Burch and Schottenham are professional photographers) of nearly every Kentucky reel from Howard's collection, including Howard's Gayle reels that have been in their family for a long time. Jim Schottenham wrote the majority of reel descriptions supplemented by Todd Larson. Multiple shots of most reels are included, as is a 45 page interview with Howard talking about his collection and the history of Kentucky reels.
It is as complete a look at the Kentucky reel as will likely ever be seen.
