Meisselbach Nuts and Bolts (screws)

Post by Paul Roberts »

Not sure where to post this. First in the general section (and found I couldn't delete from there).

I’ve seen a number of Meisselbach reels that are missing either AB faceplate screws or a handle nut. Are replacements difficult to find?

Paul, I look at eBay every day for vintage reel parts. I have not seen any parts / repair boxes for meisselbach. I bought a junker reel to strip parts from.

I also bought some poor Meisselbach's. I was hoping for a functional 581 to check out the FS feature. One that was described as fully functional, wasn't; Its frame was bent at the foot and I couldn't straighten it. The seller gave it to me. With it, and a junker 580, I was able to cobble together a working and complete 581. It's not all that pretty but is fun to cast.
