Being a beginner at posting this site I didn't realize I had forgotten to add some photos showing that two of the hand made reels are convertible, see additional photos.
Excellent craftsmanship. What I really like is the range of models- from a small tournament casting reel to a salmon sized fly reel.
What can you tell us about where you acquired them (state or province) and what you were told about the maker and possibly the date they were made? Are they stainless steel or aluminum? What do they each weigh?
Budddorca#68 is having difficulty posting photos so he sent me more photos to post for him with the attached message:
These 2 emails show the reels that are handmade and photos of some of them in open and closed mode. For right now I think it would be best to just start with these and see what other members think and suggest as to where they might have come from, once again I really appreciate your help and I'll try following your instructions on downloading, after several attempts on my cell phone I decided it would be easier on my laptop but have been really busy with family matters.
That hinged reel is really neat! If it was intended to fish from below the rod, it looks like it would fish with left hand wind? Above rod, right hand wind with line on reel in opposite direction. Does it have any sort of clicker, anti-reverse /drag mechanism?? Looks like maybe a threaded friction drag on the back?
