Latest tournament handle

Post by john elder »

I picked up a little shakespeare 1740 awhile back and thought i would go through and make mods while learning details of the pull-out free spool. However, i came to the conclusion that the mechanism was just fine the way it is... nice construction throughout and short of modifying the bearings, will outrun the average tournament caster. I did, however, decide to play around with the handle to sexy it up a bit and make rewinding easier. Aluminum knurled wheel done in style of early Redifor.

Now that is a nice touch and makes the reel look pretty cool.

Thanks, guys! Nick, pretty easy to anodize to any color one wanted. Perhaps I’ll consider that if i ever get around to fab-ing the rest of an original reel to go with the handle!
