Bride of frankenreel

Post by john elder »

A fun project from Joe Castillo! I learned a lot in this one about the why's and wherefores of reelmaking and why the early makers took the directions they did. thanks for the fun, Joe!

Got a spare reel stamped "Pflueger" or a Montague Imperial?

Thanks, guys! I probably could have continued to fiddle with this reel for another month … lots of ideas to pursue. I’m anxious to try making something that’s not made from carcasses! And yes, i even turned the mill on :D

Wish I could have been there to get in the way!! The current name isn't fitting. You created it, you should name it. If you don't, archeologists will be in a tail spin. It'll wind up on some site as "unknown reel, please help identify".

Well, Joe got the reel and did a bit of polishing and added a really neat line guide to the cage at the top of the reel. He thought it was from Fin-Nor but a nifty add, regardless of who thought it up!
