New limited edition reel by ORCAn Tim Gelinas!

Post by john elder »

Although i’ve tried to avoid collecting new/newer reels, I just had to add the latest from Tim Gelinas of Farlex reels. Tim’s latest is called “The Brassy” salmon reel in 3 3/4” size and distinguished by its brass face plate. The reel is single action, with silent click on the retrieve but sharp, crisp click as line goes out…. Just beautiful and solidly built. I look forward to getting on a fish that will give the reel a workout!

That’s what I thought, it looks pretty sizable. You could land a nice fish in the Salmon River over here with that methinks.

It’s quite an innovative design that yields silent return and nice pleasing click on the outfeed. With no play anywhere.

thanks John, the pancake is a friction washer clutch. Nice click-pawl.
Nice thrust bearing, too.
That is well-designed.
