How about a 1970’s photo of you?
Re: How about a 1970’s photo of you?
Are we going to do a picture from the 1960s, that may narrow the field? John

Hey, John, I think we would all dig a far out, groovy 1960s photo.

I love to get old reels, work on them until they run as smooth as silk and the take them fishing using pre-1960 plugs, mostly surface fishing for Largemouths after dark.

Doesn't look like Bill is fishing, he is playing with fishing tackle, tuning the rod.

Steve, Do remember where that 12/0 JVH went? Yes, Its in my collection. I purchased it from you, can't remember the date, but its been a while. Still have it!
Re: How about a 1970’s photo of you?
Jay, that pic of the reel may have been taken at the Rochester show in 2000, so maybe you got the reel then(?) I hope you took the line off. If it means anything, I still have the shirt shown in the show photo, but luckily it's not as tight-fitting anymore.Steve, Do remember where that 12/0 JVH went?

Me in 1974, at age 14. Nice stringer of walleye, northern pike, and a few rainbows. Caught at Short Creek Dam in North Dakota, while my father was stationed at Minot AFB. Was using a Garcia Mitchell 440 spinning reel, a 4-star Garcia rod, and a Cisco Kid lure, purchased with money I saved mowing lawns and shoveling snow in our neighborhood, and bagging groceries at the commissary.

1966: First Fish. Alder sapling, no reel. Some kind of magic happened that day. I still remember that bite.
1971: First fish on home-tied fly. Bronson Mercury, steel telescoping rod
1974: Mr.Twister worms, Mitchell 300, St.Croix rod w/Oval guides:
