Here is a well-made small brass reel stamped “J.Perks, Redditch” on the foot. A nice example with bone grasp. Handle screw likely a well-done replacement. See photos for condition and ask for any others. $65 plus $8 shipping. PayPal preferred.

Sorry I missed this post, Mike, or I would have snapped this up. I have a J. Perks Maker reel like this (without the bone grasp) and have tried to find out more about Perks. I contacted historical society folks in Redditch who thought the reel was neat but knew nothing about Perks. Theory is he was a dealer and didn't make the reel, but I'd like more than just a theory without anything behind it. If anyone can find out more about J. Perks of Redditch, when he lived, what he did for a living (make reels, perhaps?), or more, please let me know or post it here. Thanks, and happy new year!
