A welcome notice from Angling Marketplace
A welcome notice from Angling Marketplace
Looks like AM decided they had enough with the rare coin sales…just got this email:
“ As of January 1, 2022, The Angling Marketplace will be monitoring and restricting the type of goods listed in each auction. Only lots that are angling/fishing or outdoor sporting related will be allowed. If an item is listed that does not fall within these categories, the lot will be removed from the auction.”

Good news, but hard to understand why they allowed it in the first place. To me, it was a major flaw, no different than a dirty restaurant. Glad they are cleaning the tables, but they have to overcome the past mistakes.

You're a tough customer, Matt. This is a good sign they heard the complaints from the web or blogosphere, or wherever, and they have responded in a positive way. This is also important given the huge void created by Lang's going dark. AM isn't Lang's but this move to cleanup the extraneous stuff in the auction items deserves a couple stars at least.
My 2 cents.

Re: A welcome notice from Angling Marketplace
I love the idea of the auction site being contained to only outdoor related items. I really don't have a problem with trapping or hunting or outdoor related stuff, I just didn't want to see matchbox cars and coins on there. So kudus to them for clearing that up, and also for creating a system where repaints and other fraudulent listings can be removed. It's a great step forward.

I've bought a few items from AA, one I did not want but I was trying out the site. I do have a wonderful Bow Tie, bought by mistake. I have had a few rare English baits for an absolute bargain.

OK, Stefan. Time to show off that bow tie. I hope it has flies or some kind of fishing theme on it.
Re: A welcome notice from Angling Marketplace
That is good news, and I was one of the squeaky wheels (or squeaky reels) who emailed my concern about it becoming just another flea market.

Me too. Glad to see they listened.

I’m just glad none of you fashion plates noticed these sports coat buttons in the last AM auction, which I won with a brave bid of $10. Now to find a blazer to put them on…

The things we buy is truly amazing!
Re: A welcome notice from Angling Marketplace
I must have skipped over them thinking they were just more coins.
Those buttons would be perfect on a vest.
