Many historical images have disappeared from the board which makes it less valuable...use our Reel Talk image storage. Please.
Ditto!

BTW, from Imgur's Terms of Service, in case anyone cares:
Also, don't use Imgur to host image libraries you link to from elsewhere, content for your website, advertising, avatars, or anything else that turns us into your content delivery network.

Its not clear whether you are joking. None of the photo bucket links are visible to anyone, perhaps only the owner with a cookie on their local device. I assume you know that the image you posted says Not Available to everyone on this board.

Again folks, just don't use commercial image hosting if you want it to be available to all in the future.

After the P Bucket & Picture trail fiascos I've decided to forgo any outside picture host. One never knows when they might be left standing on the curb trying to reconstruct everything they've done over the last few years. Luckily I haven't had reason to post a pic on Joe's board since P trail went caput.
Love those Open Face Spinning Reels! (Especially ABU & ABU/Zebco)

I agree with you, Matt re using our hosting service to maintain our archives, but i believe there was some patch people could use to get around the PB block. I never used it, so don’t know particulars, but others here have. Interestingly, Ron’s pics are now gone but i could see them when he first re-posted them.

Update a couple hours later…. Its showing again, at least for me!

ORCA’s permanent hosting via Reel Talk will really be a treasure trove for future collectors. Thanks, Matt W. and all others who made this possible.

I am going to close this thread for now. Anyone that wishes to continue discussing photo posting can open a new thread. Botton line here is:
  • External Photo Hosting is not encouraged except for For Sale postings
  • We will continue to enhance the capabilities for Reel Talk photo hosting, including auto image sizing coming soon
  • We will continue to improve the abilities for image hosting and will try to prevent external hosting links which seem to go away after some time and do not properly sustain the historical record of reel collecting.
  • Think of the collectors many years in the future.
  • Remember that the ORCA mission is to educate and inform the public. Photos are an important part of that.
  • We need to think in terms of perpetuity.
