Prototype?

Post by wrong99 »

Does anyone know? Listing says to review because there "could be some nicks and scratches".

The reel also has a vintage patina.

Interesting. It looks like it’s about one step away from morphing into an oyster shell and attaching itself to a reef.

It's a saltwater trolling reel of a type commonly manufactured in Kansas, where reel makers relied on View-Masters to see what oceans and marine life are like. The biggest questions are: What kind of nails were used for the rim levers, and what screws secure the headcap, Phillips or Pozi?

Looks like some of the reels I snagged in the San Joaquin River trolling for stripers my past 30 years. I have snagged a lot that looked similar in condition over the years. from modern to a wooden Peetz. I think I would have had about 15 of them that way. They usually went in the trash can. I think I took one to the Stu Lawson reel toss ounce and it won the ugly reel contest also at his house when we used BBQ and chat in Santa Cruz. I miss those days. They are selling that ? I threw away a fortune. Not really.

This is hilarious! I guess when nothing comes to mind "PROTOTYPE". Mike the oyster comment has planted a picture in my brain I am having a hard time a shakin.
What would not be funny is if this thing is worth more than my entire collection!
