Frankfurth Hardware Co. Milwaukee Wis.

Post by mark bumgarner »

Another old reel I picked up at an estate auction of an old friend.
Above the "steel pivots" stamp is a small stamped logo reading "You Get More Worth From Frankfurth". I located this reel in a 1917 Frankfurth Hardware catalog but am not sure of maker, but looks Montague. Can anyone verify maker?
Neptune appears to be a trademarked name for Frankfurths line of tackle just as the Diamond Brand was to Shapleigh hardware.
Hope someone can help ID this reel maker so I can clean it, tag it, and talk about it with a little more confidence.
Thanks
Bummy

Ha ha! It looks similar to a Shakespeare Alamo so I’m thinking Montague. (See previous Alamo posts)

Definitely Montague. A history of Frankfurth Hardware trade reels was published in the January 2011 Reel News.
