AP/OCEAN CITY reel

Post by Thehorseman »

So, just a few days ago Dave LeVan was asking about some AP marked reels. I have one of the reels from that purchase. I’m posting this to help out if possible. The maker is Arthur Prester . He was machinist for Ocean City in the early days and has several patents. This is a beautiful transparent reel.

That is a nice looking reel, for sure. Is that reel marked AP? I didn't see any marks at all. How would somebody know what this is if they just picked it up? I doubt I would have passed on that reel if it was available, but I wouldn't know what it is.

STUNT FISHER, I am familiar with the parts of a AP reel. The homemade freespool bar is a giveaway. Also the reel internals are also the same. This blue reel was in the collection with the others that were found.
Hope this helps.
