I have been pretty quiet on Reel Talk for a while. During the pandemic I spent most of my free time learning how to turn wooden things. Just having fun. NFS.

I like them all, but the fountain pen is really neat. What type of wood is it?

Re: Wood Turning
Beautiful work, as always, Paul! Turning is so addictive! It’s such a thrill to put a crude piece of hardwood on the lathe and have some neat piece of art before dinner! You have taken it to high art in an incredibly short time! Enjoy!!

Re: Wood Turning
Paul,
you should try your hand at turning a reel. Bet that would be fun.

Re: Wood Turning
I did turn a replacement backplate in mahogany for an antique Nottingham reel. I also turned a replacement grasp for a Terry reel. These projects were a little more challenging because in each case I had to achieve correct dimensions in order for the reel to work properly.Dustnstuff wrote: ↑Sun Mar 20, 2022 1:41 pm Paul,
