Flushing Penn knobs with nipples

Post by Phil M. »

Have a Penn 716 greenie and would like to know if anyone knows and efficient way to flush-out the knob and shaft. Thanks.

Very warm water & Dawn mixture, then some mineral spirits to soften any residual gunk that's left over and another warm water & dawn oak works the best for me.
Love those Open Face Spinning Reels! (Especially ABU & ABU/Zebco)

I suggest acetic acid 5% bath (vinegar). Anytime there is corrosion, that works pretty well. Heed the cautions on too much time, but 1 hour or less should be good.
