Got off the lathe for a bit!

Post by john elder »

Had a great outing with fellow ORCAn and good buddy, Dave Gaustad. Shoot, who needs a boat? Caught this fellow busting shad before we even got off the dock!

Finally got in the boat and had a nice day on the water and plenty of bass. All was well until we got ready to head in and the boat refused to start! Oh, well, we rowed a mile each and got in… we both needed the exercise!

My, that's a nice one, John! Did you catch her on that Stradic?
Love those Open Face Spinning Reels! (Especially ABU & ABU/Zebco)

No, Tommy, was using my Quantum Accurist casting reel throwing a Castmaster. Would have been a kick to hook on lighter tackle but had just found out about the failed AR on the 2000 so it was out of the game. I did catch most using my Stradic 3000 … love that series of spinning reels!

Got a spare reel stamped "Pflueger" or a Montague Imperial?

Your subject title made me think you were working with a drill for a change. Great fish! And obviously there's still enough water in SoCal to release it.

Great fish John!

And some “quality exercise” to boot during a well earned break from the lathe to cap off your day of fun.
