British salmon reel/rod on stained glass

Post by Mike N »

An antiquing friend of mine picked up this small stained glass window with the initials R.M. at an antiques fair in western Pennsylvania. He was told that it depicted a British scene on the River Thames.

Any thoughts or comments welcome. Thanks.

I don't think its the river Thames as it's not noted as a salmon river. Somewhere in Scotland is my guess.

It is a wonderful piece. I would hang it in my reel room in a heartbeat. Thanks for the pictures.

Absolutely beautiful! One of the nicest pieces I have seen in quite some time. Must have come from the "Church of Saint Andrew", the patron saint of fishermen. Were you able to wrest it from your friend? Spey fishing for salmon in the Severn or Dee in Wales .... perhaps.
