Post by Richard Lodge »

The July issue of The Reel News went in the mail this week, sent out by our printer in Arizona. This issue features information about the ORCA National in Frankfort, Ky., in September; an interesting article by Eric Jeska headlined “Those elusive Shakespeare Rubber Standards”; a look at some of the unique reels of John Kopf (by Roger Schulz and Henry Caldwell); research on Bengt Hanscon’s unusual trolling reel, by Steven K. Vernon; a piece by Jim Schottenham that puts the spotlight on salmon and trout fly reels in the collection of the American Museum of Fly Fishing, made by the legendary Stan Bogdan for the equally legendary Lee Wulff; part II of Scott Edwards’ E. vom Hofe reel production study; a profile of ORCA webmaster and Vice President Matt Wickham; an article by John Elder, Steve Vernon and Todd Larson showing the collaborative efforts of club members to identify a reel invented by [you’ll have to read the magazine to find out]; a study of Fred Tobey’s Heddon wire-bail brakes, written by Steve Vernon and Joe Klaus; and The Auction Report for the past two months. As always, we welcome articles, letters to the editor and tips about auctions that might be worth including in an upcoming issue.
