Need help- manual/auto fly reel?

Post by JoeW »

I've seen a lot of automatic fly reels, but never one like this! No maker's ID at all... nothing! Aluminum & Bakelite, I think. Double handle crank or the lever operates a spring for retrieving line. Seems like the only way tp load the spring is by pulling out line? Reel seems very underpowered by that little spring- can retrieve only a few feet of line then gives up. Worn spring? Something I'm missing. That's some weird gearing inside! Any help out there? Opinions as to value? C'mon... someone make my day!

Thanks as always for the help! Best- JoeW

I'm pretty sure that it is an Ocean City 90 Automatic Fly Reel, Philadelphia, PA. Look for the reel on e...y, you will find a number of them.

Thank you Ray! That sure looks like it! Don't know what happened to all the writing on the hub. Sticker came off? Oh well, doesn't look like I found "gold on a sandy beach" (Meatloaf).

Amazes me how promptly you get replies at this site! And answers to any question! Thanks again... to all. Best--- JoeW
