2022 ORCA National in Frankfort. part 1

Post by Richard Lodge »

Greetings, everyone! Wish you were here (or if you are here, it's great to see you again)! Here's a big dump of a bunch of photos from Wednesday and Thursday (today). More to come.
First, Wine & Reels Wednesday night saw a lot of laughs and some interesting (some sometimes mysterious) fishing reels. We were happy to welcome Hunter Rehm of Decatur, Indiana, ORCA's youngest member, who showed off pink Zebco Princess reel and one other.

After that, Jay White, Dick "The Zebco Guy" Braun and Bill Sonnett.
At the casting competition today, a few photos of competitors and practice shots. A lot of the ORCA regulars were missing from competition this year but, hopefully they'll attend the 2023 National in Lake George, NY.

And some photos from various gatherings and in the show room, where a lot of table are set up and a ton of interesting reels are changing hands!

Nice company! So the showroom is open throughout the whole convention?
Aloha

Got a spare reel stamped "Pflueger" or a Montague Imperial?

Aloha Brian. Yes, it's unusual but it seemed to evolve quickly that way. Folks who might have done room trading brought things into the showroom and it's well-stocked from day 1. It's not open all day, only when Roger has the ORCA table up and running. So it won't open until after the Breakfast with the Board in the morning, for example. But it's pretty cool being able to browse so many well-stocked tables so early in the convention. I know folks have picked up some nice reels already.
