Penn No. 15 - Unusual Back Plate

Post by Bill Muth »

This reel was part of a recent find. I am no Penn expert. Checked the Penn book and did not see any mention of this being a factory add-on, so I suspect that it was fabricated in someone's garage. Checking to see what our resident Penn experts think.

Yes, serious post factory modifications. Does reel still go into free spool if you pull out on the handle?

Is it simply a cover, or is it holding together a damaged end plate?

Not sure without disassembling it, which I have not done.

Its holding together a cracked tailplate. I can see the crack in several of the pictures
