Here's an Old-Timer

Post by RonG »

This Meek & Milam No. 3 shows its age. It's got a petite little replacement wooden handle knob.

Neat example, Ron! Do you plan on cleaning it up or just leaving the patina/grime as it is?
Love those Open Face Spinning Reels! (Especially ABU & ABU/Zebco)

This one's going to stay as is. It makes a great example of what could happen to German silver over time.

Thanks for showing - "patina" is a polite euphemism.

That's pitting and dealloying corrosion.

Nifty!

It does show its age! Not sure I could resist cleaning it up!

I wonder if this would be a good case for a light cleaning, something that might leave some patina. The ongoing corrosion worries me on this one. At least a dip in acetic acid and neutralizing bath.

Aside from maybe giving the gears a little lube, I like it just as it is. A Kentucky classic.
