The early PENN Spinfisher 700 I got recently to restore has a broken foot. I'd planned to build an early example by using a later donor body thinking they were identical. Then I noticed a detail change, the early Spinfisher has no oiler on the main shaft bus.
Does anybody have a wrecked parts donor early PENN Spinfisher 700 that has a good unbroken frame? This is the reel with the odd curved diecast handle. All later 700 & 704 reels have an oiler drilled into the casting.
Also realized that the dawn 700 does not have a counterweight in the rotating head. Small detail changes keep popping up. For instance, the spools had 2 grooves added to assist in removing the lock ring retaining the drag. The early version did not have this.
