Ocean City Orlando

Post by Deepfins791 »

Not sure this adds to anything we know or don't know about the rare Orlando 6/0 reel, but I purchased this one, and it came with the box, which was missing the label, and the sales receipt showing the date it was sold. Note the buyer put $5 down on the reel. I also have the final receipt from a week later showing the balance had been paid off. The reel was sold in March of 1936.

This reel is silky smooth, heavy, and impressively well-built.

Cheers,
John

Absolutely stunning, John. These are tough to find in any condition and just impossible to find one like that! Congrats!

That’s a real beauty! I love the added provenance of the original receipts.

John, I was waiting for somebody to ask me about that jig! It is a Catalina Island pottery jig. They were made by a pottery company actually located on the island, and yes, they were made of pottery. These are very rare, and prized among tuna jig collectors. You can read more about them here: https://wonews.com/the-history-of-catal ... d-present/
