The Inductor's magnetic brake was patented in 1944.

It was introduced by Ocean City almost simultaneously with Horton's introduction of its Electromatic, a freshwater reel using the same magnetic brake. The Inductor is somewhat uncommon.

The Model 255 Inductor is the last of the Inductor models to be introduced into the series of Inductors. It was introduced in 1954. It is not rare; it is the only level wind Inductor, making it an odd reel and a limited production because of the short time span of its offering. Only in the catalogs for 1954, 55 & 56, I do not believe it made the transition over the True Temper, who bought Ocean City in 1957, but I could be wrong on that, not really sure.

Here is the Inductor, Model 255 in the 1954 Catalog.

mike cass,,, if you can't collect it, it must be food

Here is a nice 255 Inductor with box and paperwork. Like Mike said not a tuff reel to find. I think they are the coolest looking of the Inductors. The 249 was the hardest for me to find but I have seen a few since I was looking. John Taylor

Here is one picture each of the other three Inductors the 249, 250 and 251.
