Spinning Reel with a V superimposed over a globe, and No. 66
I got a spinning reel off ebay a long time ago (15 years-ish?) that I can't identify. It says made in Japan on the foot. Big burly reel, about the size of a Mitchell 306. Has a logo that is the capital letter V superimposed over a globe, and No. 66 below it. See attached pic. Any ideas on who made it? It's a nicely built reel in good shape. Google image search yields nothing.

From the mid 1960's. Most likely made by, at that time, Olympic. It is basically the same reel as the Match 555. According to Ben The Striper line was distributed by Blue Eagle Quality Tackle Distributors.

I like the match. Especially the inset side plate. I am continually impressed by the design and engineering of those off brand Japanese reels.
you can tune a piano, but you can't tuna fish.

Thanks Chris et al,
Yep, that's the one! I *knew* that if there was anyplace I could find out, it would be ORCA. Very well built reel. A bit on the heavy side by today's standards, but the family sedan weighed 5500 pounds in those days so I guess it's just about right.
I got it in a box lot of reels that I bought on eBay, and set it aside for later... and now it's 15 years later and it's time to pass it on. I don't know if it's ok to discuss valuations here, but I was thinking I'd start the bidding at $19.99. If that's totally unrealistic (in either direction), please feel free to correct my guess.
Thanks again,
Dave

Unless it's NIB or in excellent condition I think you are being overly optimistic, especially considering USPS shipping costs these days. There's not a big collector market for those and as a user it's not worm gear driven and doesn't have a bearing @ the pinion.but I was thinking I'd start the bidding at $19.99. If that's totally unrealistic (in either direction), please feel free to correct my guess.
