I picked up this ABU Garcia Tournament (twin to the 444) spinning reel with the two tiered spool few years back. It came from a tournament caster from the St Louis area. Any idea who that gentleman might have been?

No. The reel Richard listed in the Auction Report says it's an ABU 444, although the side plate isn't shown. My reel is the ABU Garcia version. They are the same basic reel but with different side plates.

just saaw ur question.

am out of town on business. will be home in 3-4 days
will sit down and write what i know. looong time ago as i was starting 30 gr.
know the man who fixed the problem with the garcia (french a--) who were clogging the pipeline
for competitive reasons. also it was knowledge learning thing on correct loading of spool, with line
