Cleaning Satin chrome finish "Silverlite"

Post by mark bumgarner »

Any recommendations for cleaning what Bronson called a Silverlite Chrome Finish? It is a satin finish chrome, I believe. Is it the same as cleaning polished chrome?

Flitz, Poes, or Semichrome, in that order.

Thanks Matt, I use these on other reels but just wasn't sure about the satin finish, and there is really no hidden area to test. I have read the "Cleaning, Restoring and Repairing ANTIQUE FISHING REELS " book which I purchased in Frankfurt last fall but did not see any mention on the satin finish so just wanted some reinforcement. The book is a wonderful resource, thank you and all the other members who contributed articles, VERY WELL DONE!

Also, you pretty much can’t go wrong with dish soap/water and a toothbrush, followed by rinse, dry and lube . Sometimes that's all you need!

Thanks John, thats where I started. Did go ahead and lightly polish with some semichrome, as Matt suggested and she came out pretty nice, think I will leave it at that as I don't know if I could find another. SPORT PAL 4900
