ocean city handle knob not spinning freely, HOW TO FIX?

A picture or model name/number might help.

What Paul said… but about any plastic grasp will respond to hot water. Try running it under a hot water tap for a minute, then try to turn. If it turns freely, shoot some light oil or WD-40 into whatever gap you can find and turn to work the oil in around the post. That might be all you need.

When I RAN HOT WATER ON THE KNOB IT SPINS FREELY BUT AFTER I COOLS DOWN I T GET STIFF AGAIN,

I EVEN UP PUT THE REEL ON A ROD AND TESTED IT........STILL THE KNOB IS TOO STIFF,

I AM 100% THIS IS THE ORIGINAL HANDLE AND KNOB ON THE REEL.

ANY OTHER TRICKS OF THE TRADE THAT MIGHT FIX THIS ISSUE?

I AM WIDE OPEN TO ANYONES ADVISE

I have run into same thing with the bigger Ocean City reels. The big reels have a nut that holds knob onto the handle and I take knob and it's shaft off .Then gently tap shaft out of knob pushing the splined grease or oil fitting out of the end of the knob. Then you can take a slightly over sized drill and open hole in plastic open just a bit then reassemble and very easily tap oil fitting back in. It works perfectly on the big OC reels with the nuts. Unfortunately it looks like your shaft has no nut and it's peened on ????

I tried hot water, light oil and none worked long term. Maybe look for a cheap donner reel or replacement handle on eBay ??? Good Luck ! John Taylor

Graphite. I don't know if it would work or not but after you get the handle loose and it has dried thoroughly you might try squirting some powdered graphite in it. Let me know if it works.

THE KNOB SEEMS TO WORKING FINE NOW FROM THE HOT WATER AND LIGHT OIL TREATMENT, long term will be the real test,
