Interesting Little Fly Reel

Post by RonG »

Below are some photos of a 60 yard United States Net & Twine fly reel. They had a trademark on the name "CLIMAX" and the trademark date is on the top of the their Moog patented foot. The interesting parts of the reel are that it has mother-of-pearl handle knob and side plates and it has a gold wash on the metal parts. I'm thinking it is not a production item but a memento or award given to one of US Net&Twine employees. Maybe it was for a retirement memento or recognition award. I would like to see your thoughts.

Nice find! Quite probably one of a kind or one of very, very few.

Neat! Bob Baird made at least one little reel with pearl side plates, but think he also made the frame from scratch. Wayne Jansen did own it ( still does?). Maybe Wayne will pipe up and speak to that reel. But Dean, you probably know about that one.
