Another “Who Made It”

Post by Greg D. »

Can anyone please tell me anything (maker? Approximate date of manufacture?) about this reel I picked up today in a shop? They had no info about it at all and I can find no identifying marks. Thanks in advance!

(Thought I had uploaded pics but don’t see them after I hit “Submit”. Will try again, sorry.)

Greg, here's a procedure: viewtopic.php?t=15596. Be sure each pic is less than 3MB. Once a pic is uploaded, two links appear: thumbnail and regular. Click on either and it magically appears in you text wherever your cursor is. Check with the "Preview" button before hitting "Submit."

I'm thinking Montague salt trade. What's the yardage stamped on the bottom of the foot if any? The foot has been shortened. Inside?

That is a very important tip. If I take a photo with my iPhone it almost always is bigger than 3MB. So, I just email it to myself (my iPad) as “medium” size (Apple lets you select small, medium, large or actual size when emailing a photo.) The medium size is below 3MB and I just save it that way when I get the email. I’m sure there are easier, technical ways to resize a photo, but that works for me.

I don’t see anything stamped anywhere on the reel seat. I bought it because of the raised pillars and wooden handle (novice still learning what to look for). It was $8 so figured I couldn’t go but so wrong. Just curious to find out how old it may be. Thanks for the input!
