Charles Lehmann Fishing Reels and Tackle

Post by David Lehmann »

Charles Lehmann shows up in the 1920 U.S. Census as a fishing tackle manufacturer in Manhattan, NYC. For the most part, he flew under the raider, avoiding directory listings and census reporting. He was an immigrant from Germany. To confuse the matter, there was another Charles Lehmann in NYC who was a contemporary, a machinist, and also a German immigrant. I'm researching the tackle maker. I have a 3" and a 6" wooden reel that are stamped with his name. Does anyone have other sizes of "CHAS. LEHMANN" stamped wooden reel or any other fishing items with a Charles Lehmann stamp? Thanks for whatever info you can supply. A picture of a few Lehmann reels are included below.

I've had a couple of Lehmanns. My guess is that they were made by Sommer Faucet, possibly Ritter. Roger might opine, too. The little research I've done on Lehmann didn't turn up evidence he made reels, but who knows?
