I have had this unmarked little reel in my collection for a while and thought I'd ask Jim Schottenham what he might know about it. Jim is a wealth of information about reels (especially sidemounts) and it turns out he not only has one just like this, but has a larger upright version with two handles for trolling. He said the reels were listed in an 1890 Henry Squires catalog but not the following year, so it was likely a very short run for this sidemount. Anyway, I was glad to learn something about this reel, which is just 2" in diameter and about 2 3/4" tall (excluding the handle). NFS.

Interesting reel Richard. It's unusual indeed.
