How’s everyone doing? My name is Travis and just wanted to say thanks for adding me this looks like a really cool forum. I am an avid fisherman salt and fresh water new age and vintage equipment use (mainly fresh as of late). Currently bass fishing as I write this. My uncle who lived on the Snake River in Idaho just recently passed away and he left me hundreds of vintage baitcast, fly, and spinning rods and reels and combos. A lot of them I can’t even find by searching google, (examples, a pre model number Mitchell with just the name Mitchell engraved, a pre model number Zebco spin combo, 2 engraved Mitchell 301’s, and many more) I would love to be able to find some actual pricing on them but also more importantly know some of the history of these reels. All are in perfect working order and my uncle actually used most of them. Unfortunately do not have any boxes or papers on them which is making traking them down surprisingly hard just searching google lol.

Hi Travis- Thanks for adding ORCA to your list of good habits! It’s great to hear from new members, and hopefully you’ll find answers here. Was your uncle a member? When I started collecting reels I thought I was the only one with my strange obsession, but then found that there were actual books on the subject, and other like-minded souls all over the world. It’s a fine group of people here!
You can learn a lot about any reel by using the Search tool at the top right of this forum. You can optionally click the gear icon near the search tool to get a more advanced search. The entire forum is searched for previous posts related to your topic. Welcome to Reel Talk and good luck on tracking the history of your reels.

Welcome, Travis. Some photos of those reels would sure help nailing down their circa. The un-numbered Mitchell depends on whether it's a half or full bail and some came with a Garcia sticker that has long since fell off.
Love those Open Face Spinning Reels!(Especially ABU & ABU/Zebco)
Welcome, Travis. If you are a member, the member's only libraries are chock full of articles, catalogs, and schematics. LOTS in there and well worth the price of admission.
Thanks for the info and guidance everyone. Only problem is I don’t really know that much about these reels to be able to search them. I don’t know if they are real or knock offs, don’t know difference between half or full bail. Here is couple photos Midway Tommy D of the unnumbered Mitchell. It may have had a Garcia sticker that fell off but I don’t think so because the Mitchell is engraved and on the 301’s that i have the Garcia Mitchell 301 is all engraved.
Also are my photos even uploading because I attached photos to this post but am not able to view them on the post?
