Anything I can do to make these gouges less prominent? I’m going to tune this to BFS so I’m not trying to make it a show piece I just want to make it more presentable.
I'm thinking that some light fine flat filing on the real nasty bits would help some.
Is this a nickle silver reel?
Maybe some sort of solder to fill the holes, then more filing and polishing?
Seems like a lot of worker for a user.
Thank you all, I appreciate the advice but the issue is it’s a satin finnish anodized aluminum not nickel silver. So no polishing or soldering. I figure a precise filing to just try to blend it in some.
Well ABU used a clear coat on a lot of their various reels from that time frame. You might try to smooth some of the nicks out with a light lacquer thinner or acetone rub. If it works and you feel real gutsy you could remove all the coating and give it a new clear coat with Minwax Polycrylic or Rustoleum Clear Coat aerosol.
Love those Open Face Spinning Reels!(Especially ABU & ABU/Zebco)
