Posting this for laughs. Truly sexist but a sign of those "old days." Makes me wonder if John Elder wears a tie and smokes a pipe while working on reels.

It's not really sexist. The guy races home from his office job so he can work on his reels. His sensible wife brings him a couple of empty cups so he can keep the parts in them instead of losing them on the floor, as usual. When he starts taking that automatic apart, she'll bring him a helmet and safety goggles, then leave asap.
