Orvis 150

Post by jdeanbailey »

How rare is a Orvis 150 (no letter) spinning reel? Manufactured in 1966 for one year only, preceeding the 150A and listed as “unico anno” = single year.

Fairly hard to come by according to Sergio DiMarco. According to Sergio even the Pelican 150, which is the same reel as the Orvis 150 and manufactured for the European market, is hard to find. Ben Wright said the Orvis 150 came out in 1962 so it would be interesting to see the Orvis '62 -'67 catalogs to see if the 150 is listed in any of them.
Love those Open Face Spinning Reels! (Especially ABU & ABU/Zebco)

If anyone has the Orvis catalogs from 1950-1968 the library can use them.

Orvis 150
According to the ANTIPES page, it was a one year issue in 1966 by ZANGI. It would be interesting to see the old Orvis catalogs. Mine has the old style spool ( no stacked drag and a small shaft just like the 100). Another curiosity is the spool itself. Not like the 150S that I have - it has a 4 way clutch knob, not the 3 way like on all my other vintage Orvis spinning reels. ???
