Need gear for a Gulf German silver reel

I recently cleaned up a 100yd Gulf reel. When reassembling it, I cannot find the gear that rides on the spool shaft.
It’s one of the most mysterious things. I looked all over my workbench, the floor, even the bottom soles of my boots. It’s got me wondering if it was ever really there or I imagined it.

Anyway, if anyone has any spare parts stashed away I would appreciate it.
FYI the gear from a 250yd reel will not work. I tried

Maybe some measurements of the drive gear would expidite a non original pinion gear that fits/works. #teeth, etc.
