WTB 1940s Pflueger Medalist spool

Post by kmposibl »

I'm looking for a '40s spool for a 1494 Medalist ringer. The spool I have is missing the release mechanism and cover, and the handle is disintegrating. It has a drum type arbor and metal drag button.

Given the metal adjustment for the drag, you need a spool guard that’s also metal in order to be correct. Someone has removed yours to use on another spool because of the handle being degraded. So, we need to round you up one of those and in fact, it’s probably easier just to get another spool of the right vintage. An alternative is to get one-Pfoot replacement parts, but those don’t come easy either. If it is to be a user, then it’s easy to find a good spool with plastic guard and grasp and you are in business. When back home, i can see what i might have for you.

Right, I'm looking for a complete period spool. I intend to use it but want it be as original. If you, or someone else, has one available I'd be interested.
I tried to include a picture but for some reason it failed to load.

Select pic… hit “upload all” button, then pick the “regular” url ( you have two to choose from), then “submit”. The great sin of these reels is the poor quality paint job they got, so the paint is normally scratched up. Great reels, though with a drag good enough forcabout anything you will run into in fresh water!

I haven't cleaned it or done anything with it at all yet. It's showing its age, which is fine by me, it came mixed in with a box of other reels. I just want to return it to as supplied and use it on a '42 Granger GS8642. If I can't find the spool I'm looking for I'll pick up a later spool while I keep looking for an original. I understand One Pfoot is back in business but I'd much rather have the original part.

I don’t know if these are the correct ones but I have 2 basically new Pflueger Medalist reels and a pretty much new spare spool. Don’t have image of spool in phone but could easily get it for you if they are the correct ones your looking for.
