Langley with a loose shaft

Post by Chad J »

Any suggestions on how to tighten up the shaft that is attached to the faceplate without specialty tools? It has quite a bit of wobble.

Personally, I would support the side plate on a metal cone of some sort (like a punch) inserted into the post hole. Then tap the other end of the post with a hammer to make it flare out over the cone and tighten the connection. You may then need to file the distal end of the post to remove any burr formed when it was tapped with a hammer.
