Well . . .

It is a cutie, but it kinda looks homemade to me - I wonder if all that "spiral-cut" post and rim is sharp enough to cut or nick one's line?

I'm gonna agree with Len, it looks homemade, mostly because of the twisted wire frame. While it looks great, I'm sure as Len pointedout, line would at some point catch on the spirals and nick it up. What's the diameter?

Thanks for the response gys. The pic I posted is horrible. I tried to reduce the size and it distorted the pic. I'll send you be email a better pic. The frame is not spiral. It is smooth brass. I was told on another site that its a Indiana Style reel, but he didn't give me much more detail about these reels. If you have any info it would be appreciated. A friend of mine gave me this reel, but if this has any good worth I would feel guilty that he gave it away to me. Thanks again

Nick,

Give us an idea how big this thing is... always helps. And any markings or numbers on the reel foot?

Nick,
I got the pic you e-mailed, let's try it here:

That's a bit clearer. Not sure I'd classify that as an Indiana reel, at least by my definition*. I'd say it's more of a small sidemount trolling reel. I still think it's a well done home made reel. Would you mind taking a pic of the underside? And, as El requested, any markings at all?
Jim

*Basic design of an Indiana reel is that of a large diameter, single action reel with radial arms.

The diameter is around 6". There are no markings at all on this reel. I checked it very closely. I'll send you another pic of the underside.
