Thanks for the photos, John. I'm sorry my work schedule did not allow me to attend. Great reels, but especially those boxed Orvis patent 1874 fly reels of Beebe's. Have a great time.

As usual, I should have taken more photos.
It was great to finally meet all the folks that I have only known through emails. I saw some incredible reels, and many terrific displays and collections. The National is the place to see things I’ve never seen before, learn things I never knew before, and actually hold reels I never knew existed. But the best part was the ORCA members, sharing their passions and listening to mine.
I enjoyed the casting completion and I’m reluctant to admit that I’ve never cast a bait-casting rig. Push-button is what I grew up with, and fly casting is my area of expertise, but Chip Rice encouraged me to try it, and was patient with my three magnificent birds nests. I might have done better if I was all thumbs because I kept forgetting to use mine. But look out next year! I’m determined to spend 2025 practicing and mastering the technique.
