Hey guys.

I have been away from ORCA for several years. From what I've seen so far, the website looks like it's been updated amazingly. Kudos to all those who have facilitated that course.

Some of you I know, and some of you I hope to become acquainted in the future. When I got here 10 years ago, there were several people that were very welcoming and helped mentor me in this new hobby\addiction. I give lots of credit to John Elder, Dave Erickson, and Mark Williams for taking me under their wing so to speak. RIP wrong99.

Anyway, I collected, inherited, and acquired too much stuff to reasonably keep, before I could narrow my focus into certain areas of interest. BTW, I asked John for help with this and he said he couldn't help, because he liked collecting everything. So, here I am needing to pass alot of my collection on to others in the coming years. Personally, I would like to offer alot of it up on this board in case anyone is looking for the particular items I have. Kinda paying it forward if you will.

I now have more of focused path for collecting. Kentucky reels and related items, Talbot reels, and early metal lures. I will still be looking for these items, and hope to steal a few from the new president.

Glad to be back with kindred spirits after some challenging times.

William

Welcome William,

I am all for passing along reels. I don't mind if you steal them. I always buy high and sell low, that is the way it is in this hobby. I like the movement. I keep the ones that are core to my collection. I have gone through a 40 year journey where I now know what I want. But I still occasionally branch out. Can't resist the shiny objects I guess.

Hey William, I'm glad you're back. I would like to let you know about one of the latest trends in reel collecting. Right now ORCA was granted the opportunity to sell the reels from the estate of long time collector Laurie Bingham. These are being offered on eBay. There will be a new listing every Friday of reels from her collection. See link below to show the ones active now on eBay.

Laurie had focused on the quality reels from makers in New York and surrounding states. This sale has provided a great opportunity to acquire some of these high quality reels. Collecting New York style brass ball handle and S-handle German silver reels has definitely shown that there is now a great interest in them. Like Colby says, "Keeping it fun."

Matt - I appreciate your welcome. We have the overlapping tastes in old reels, and you have some nice ones.

Ron - I have already looked at this weeks auctions for Mrs. Bingham's collection. Lots of great offerings.
A little disheartening in a way, but inevitability sets in on us all without a doubt. Also, a significant portion of my favorite reels have come through your hands.

Anyway, I have some stuff to pass on to other collectors in the future. Like to give ORCANS the first shot at some of it.
Just feels better to keep it in the community, if anyone needs it. Before it goes to auction.

Thanks

William
