Hello everyone,
I am new to ORCA. I am currently looking at buying some vintage spincast reels to use for fishing. Problem for me is, I am not quite sure what to get. I have looked at Abu-Matic 170's, Zebco Omega 33's, and Johnson Century Reels. I will use these reels for panfish, smallmouth bass, and walleye. I am looking for suggestions on reasonably priced reels that preform well.
I have looked at several 170's on Facebook Marketplace in great condition for around $30, but smell scams a mile away. Selling reels and just joined Facebook. On their personal page there is no about me info. They have not post on their page. They have no friends. They are following nothing. The want Venmo for payment and send you a QRC code to scan. They won't take standard PayPal, they want PayPal friends and family (transaction have no protection using friends and family).
So I haven't bought anything yet and will probably purchase off Ebay or Etsy from a trusted seller.

None of those are rare and all regularly appear on Ebay in a wide range of prices using regular PayPal. If it stinks then don't touch it.

Run, Forrest, run!!
I’m sure there are plenty of fishable reels available from ORCA members here… if they are in ORCA, they are trustworthy!

I have three heddons on the bench - they are dirty and grease chocked. I should be getting to them in the next week or two. If you are interested in any of them I will let you know their "fishability" after I clean them up and assess the condition:
